Firstly, I notice right away that this time only the right AirPod had turned on the noise cancel effect, and made the chime representing a Bluetooth connection, while the left after a brief delay, and no chime, too by default had the noise canceling feature turn on. I removed BOTH and placed them in my ears. Upon opening the case the light was flashing white. I held the button on the back ruffly 10 seconds until the light turned to a solid green, and eventually the light turned off entirely. With them BOTH in the charging case, and the light blinking orange. Once in this menu I selected the information icon to the right of the device name originally associated with both my AirPods (at this time only the left AirPod). This was located by accessing the settings app then selecting Bluetooth. On my iPhone, I went to my Bluetooth settings and selected “Forget this Device”. IN ADDITION AT ALL TIMES WHERE BOTH OR EITHER WAS PAIRED TO A DEVICE ALL NORMAL FUNCTIONS WORKED APPROPRIATELY, AND REGARDLESS OF THERE PAIRED STATUS EACH MAINTAINED THE ABILTY TO SWITCH BETWEEN NOISE CANCELING AND TRANSPARENCY. I don’t rightfully know if all the steps listed are needed or could be improved upon, but this is the process that worked for me.ĪT NO POINT IS A CHARGING CORD, WIFI, OR CELLULAR SERVICE NEED IN THIS METHOD. Three failed ideas later, I had stumbled into a solution that resolved the issue, and in the end took only TWO MINUTES. With that in mind, I opted to try a few things out before settling. To me, considering the time it could take, I didn’t feel like me taking a few minutes to look for a solution myself would set me back. Honestly, the steps just seemed way to complex, took a long time, and required some luck. Once home, I of course looked online for a solution, leading me here. In the end, due to time restraints, I resorted to use the left for music and the right to noise cancel until after work. The right would still switch from noise canceling to transparent, and make the appropriate chimes. After placing them in there charging case and into my pocket for a 15 minute break however, suddenly I could only get my left one to connect and play music. They were functioning properly all morning at work. This issue occurred to me with my AirPod Pros today. It is unknown to me if the side of the AirPod the issue occurs on would impact this fix, but very strongly feel the process would be the same for each side correspondingly by switching “left” with “right” and visa versa. It is unknown to me if this truly forces a firmware update or just places them back into a common firmware state. This takes two iPhones however, I’m sure it would work with other compatible Apple products. You'll know in the first ~5 seconds if it worked because the light will go from amber to white, then fully reset at 15 seconds. Open the case (flashing amber), Press and hold the airpods case button for 10-15 seconds until the light flashes amber and back to white. In the phone bluetooth settings, remove the two airpods set up in steps 1 and 3. Leave case open and plugged in for multiple hours (I think I did 2 hours)Ĭlose the case and leave plugged in without opening (I let it sit for 2 hours) Put both airpods in the case (starts flashing amber). Repeat 10-20 min of music / podcast with the other airpod Under bluetooth settings you will see multiple airpods (it treats each airpod as a separate device at this point) Place back in case, open (see green or white), press button to get to white light, pair. Set aside the paired Airpod (not in case). I think I didn't run this step long enough before Listen to music or podcast for 10-20 minutes. This let me pair one airpod by pressing and holding the back button until the led pulses white. The light should be green or white not flashing amber. Remove one Airpod (set aside), close case for 10 seconds and re-open. UPDATE: This completely worked thank you! Adding my exact process as I stumbled on a few of the steps in OP.
